I was looking at adding MCP support to a couple apps because I like playing with IPC/XPC. Worried about it causing slop to get added here and it kind of feels like something that should be part of shortcuts.

My eyes have been crazy itchy lately, not sure what's going on but my regular eye drops don't help. Benadryl however does, the problem is I take it and in about 15 minutes start feeling better, then about 20-30 minutes after that I start wondering why I'm so sleepy. Then I'm pretty much done for at least a few hours.
Right now I'm on minute 20…

🫢 I guessed there was some drama behind the scenes but wasn’t expecting this.
I'd love to update this SE 2 test device I have to the latest version of iOS 18 to prevent the severe security issues in the old version I'm running. But I can't because my only choice is to upgrade to iOS 26 which defeats the entire purpose of having this test device.
‘So the “currentItem can change behind our back” comment is plausible, not just paranoia’ Great now AI is implying I’m paranoid sometimes.
Product idea. One time use AirPods that I can hand out to people like the super annoying woman having a FaceTime call with what I’m assuming are her very drunk friends with the volume maxed out on her phone. *

Proposal: code pre 2026ish should be refered to as low background code.
Seeing some Geekbench results for the M5 Max and Neo (search for Mac 17,5). The M5 Max seems to beat the M3 Ultra. Though doesn't seem super impressive compared to the M4 Max.

8GB of RAM, 2/4 core CPU, no thunderbolt, nerfed display out, 256GB of storage, nerfed LCD. I mean the price is great but damn feels like a few too many corners were cut.
I'm so confused by what's what now. Are there now 3 types of M5 cores? Is an M5 performance core an M4 performance core or an efficiency core? WTH is going on?
Just finished some optimization work that should improve scrolling and re-sizing performance. Probably a good excuse to buy a 120Hz Studio Display, but no way I'm spending $3k+ for a 27" monitor and guessing 120Hz isn't enough to notice the difference…
If nothing else, at least these coding assistants are making me feel good about myself today. They are equally shite at dealing with inverted coordinate systems as I am. I swear its the USB-A of coding issues.
I missed this guy. Also a pretty good take on the current Apple UI.

I read this as foreign mass surveillance and supervised killing is just fine. Such courage.
This is one of the things that frustrates me about these LLM based coding tools, too much wrong headed certainty. I've been using these classes and their ancestors for going on 30 years now and I sure as hell don't know off the top of my head. Saying I don't know is tons better than hallucinating an incorrect answer.
As you plan your exit strategy please consider, how many professional woodworkers do you know?
I vibe coded (🤮) unit tests yesterday for the feature I’ve been working on for the last couple of weeks. It mostly worked OK but enforced my view of not using the AI tools for more than fancy autocomplete, naming and code review. The stuff it wrote runs and does what it should but lacks an elegance I aspire to in shipping code. Also doubt it’s maintainable by anything other than LLMs.
Feel bad for future development on projects that use this stuff for actual code.
