I will be applying a patch to the Mastodon code on all Masto.host instances to mitigate an increased number of errors from object storage when instances are under heavy load: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/38145

This will require restarting services, causing approximately 15 seconds of downtime.

Scheduled maintenance tomorrow, March 3rd (05:00-06:00 UTC).

Database server 11 will be offline for about 1 hour, but only instances using that server will be affected. All other instances will continue to operate normally.

If your instance is affected, the instance owner should have received an email with the details.

I will be rebooting the server where Masto.host website and dashboard are hosted.
No instance will be impacted.
The website and dashboard will be down for about 5 minutes.

This is also a good time to check out the new Masto.host Status page, now live at https://status.masto.host. Still testing, but it should provide much more clarity on any issues that come up.

There is currently an issue with the object storage that is causing servers to not be able to process media files and be overloaded (slow or, in extreme cases, stop responding).
